About Mrs. O'Hanley...
This is my family! Meet my husband, Mr. O'Hanley, and my two daughters who are in 1st and 6th grade. We have lots of pets at home, including our dog, Rhea, our cat, Odin, and many fish in our outdoor pond. As a family, we love to dress up to visit the Bristol Renaissance Faire, so you may see us there if you visit over the summer!
Professional Development
As an active member in the National Art Education Association (NAEA) and the Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA), I attend professional development seminars, artist workshops, and business meetings pertaining to the national art education standards. I have presented at the state and national conferences, and had many great opportunities to meet artists that have worked in the art education field. Accomplishments in Art Education
Currently, I serve on the Illinois Art Education Association (IAEA) Board as the Poster Chair Coordinator for their Mosaic Magazine. From 2007-2010, I served on the NAEA's Student Chapter. During my tenure, I worked with future art educators in finding professional development opportunities and advocating for professional growth. I achieved national board certification in 2011, and was honored with the IAEA Early Professional of the Year award in 2012. I am also one of the co-founders for my town's local arts guild. In addition to being a mom, an artist, and educating children in the visual arts, I am also a blog author and contributing editor for Arts and Activities magazine.

The National Art Education Association
(right: Mrs. O'Hanley and Mrs. Farnesi presenting at the NAEA convention in Ft. Worth, Texas in 2013) The National Art Education Association (NAEA) is the leading professional membership organization exclusively for visual arts educators. I have presented at each annual conference since 2007. The NAEA has worked with the U.S. Department of Education in developing the new core arts standards. The standards describe what students should know and be able to do as a result of a quality curricular arts education program.
Working Artist
On top of being your child's art teacher and a mom, I am also an active artist. I am currently a serving member of the Mokena Artist Guild, as well as a member of the World Artist Network (WAN), which has multiple artists to connect with world wide on all social media sites. On the weekends, I also teach paint classes at Bloom Art Studio located in Mokena, Il. I consider myself an all-around artist, working with drawing, painting, sculpture, quilting, photography, fiber, and digital art.
