Welcome to ARt!
If you are new to Brodnicki School, my name is Mrs. O'Hanley, and I am your child's art teacher! I am a mom of 2 girls, a national board certified teacher (NCBT), an active member of the NATIONAL ART EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (NAEA), and a working artist.
I wanted to take this moment to share a few things about my class! If you have any questions regarding materials, procedures, Artsonia, and more, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]
WHAT TO WEAR ON ART DAYS: Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing on days he/she has art class. Throughout the year, your child may be working with materials that may be tricky to wash out. I do my best to work with washable materials, but if materials are permanent (ex. acrylic paint, etc.), your child will be notified at least a week in advance to be prepared. We work with drawing, painting, ceramic clay, printmaking, and pastels, so they will get messy.
ALLERGIES: If your child has an allergy to any materials (ex. permanent markers, chalk, latex, etc.), please contact me so I can accommodate your child with the projects.
ARTSONIA: We are a school that uses Artsonia, the nation's #1 online art gallery. If you are new to Artsonia, please click here to view the blog post I wrote titled, "10 Reasons Why Artsonia Benefits Parents."
If you had an active Artsonia account last year, your account will be reactivated once your child's artwork is posted. Your "fan club" members can then start adding comments to the artworks!
Important Notice on Artsonia: There was a recent change to Artsonia's privacy policy that you can view here. If you have an account created for your children, you can continue to enjoy seeing new artworks pop up on the online gallery. However, if you had granted permission by verifying your email account, Artsonia will no longer publish your child's artwork. I will continue to upload all artworks created into each students' portfolio for measurement of growth in art, but unless verified, artwork will not be published to view online. If you do not have an account and wish to create one, please contact me at [email protected] for your personal code.
Anything to Donate? Throughout the year, there are items that the students use daily and are in need of being replenished. While shopping for supplies for your children, I would love to ask for the following to help supplement what's needed in all the specials classes:
Most Needed
-Handiwipes
-Kleenex (tissue) Boxes
-Paper Towel Rolls
-Styrofoam plates
Random Items Used For Projects
-Coffee Filters
-Spray Starch (found in the laundry section)
-Containers that have been washed out (ex. butter containers, cool whip)
-Gallon size ziplock bags
